Non-Importation Petition is submitted.
October 28, 1767
The document is a pledge not to buy various articles of English-made clothing. It is signed by 664 people, a larger number than generally voted in town elections. Those signing include Jonathan Clarke and John Singleton Copley, James Otis and Paul Revere, but not Samuel Adams and John Hancock. The agreement expires on January 1, 1770.
